Rules and Regulations for
Fire and Iron Motorcycle Club Station 857



1. MEMBERSHIP

a) No member shall be discriminated on basis of race, sex or creed.

b) Primary membership of the club shall be made up of those people who are Firefighters and Fire Department support services personnel i.e. dispatchers, vehicle maintenance, dive team, etc. This shall and will include those members who are paid, call, volunteer and retired.

c) Full membership shall be made up of all non-Fire Department personnel. Full members cannot sponsor any new members. They cannot hold the position of President or Vice-President. They cannot vote on National Issues, they can vote on all issues pertaining to Station 857. Full membership (Sponsored members) will also have a 3 month probationary period, after being voted into the club. During this time, they will not be allowed to wear the Fire and Iron back patch or lower rocker on their vest. They will be allowed to wear the 857’s club patch on the front of the vest. After their probationary period, the officers of 857 will meet to allow the sponsored member the full membership privilege. The officers do have the right not to allow the person into the club due to any problems, lack of interest, or breaking any rules within the club.

d) Union membership not mandatory.

e) Any Fire Department (Primary) member can sponsor 2 non-Fire Department applicants to join the club, (i.e. family members, spouse or friend), all non-Fire Department members cannot sponsor anybody.

f) All makes and models of motorcycles will be accepted into club, however member motorcycles must be at least 600cc's or greater.

g) If for any reason a member no longer owns a motorcycle, that member will have a time period of one year to purchase a motorcycle, unless the member can fall under Section 1, para. g and h. All unique situations will be taken into consideration and decided on by the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Sgt. At Arms and Road Captain.

h) All Primary member's immediate family will be able to join the club.

i) All member's passengers will be able to join the club. ( i.e. spouse, significant other or friend).

j) No applications for full membership (sponsored members) will be voted on between the last meeting of the year (October/November) to the second meeting of the year (March or April). Applications can be accepted and voted on for all primary members only.

k) Any Primary or full membership (sponsored) member within local Station 857 can be voted into the following officer positions:
Sgt at Arms, Sec/Tres, and Road Captain. All full membership (sponsored) members can vote on all issues/positions at Station 857 meetings/elections.
Full Membership (sponsored) members can not vote on National Fire and Iron issues, or be voted into a National Officers position, and can not hold the rank of President/Vice President of Station 857.

l) To be eligble as an Officer of Station 857, you MUST be able to commit to making at least 60 percent of all rides, meetings, and events. The President can use his discretion on this issue.

2. DUES

a) Each member in good standing will be required to pay annual dues, paid no later than the April meeting. Dues are: $70 first year, includes back patch set, and 857 club patch. The annual dues after your first year will be $25.00 yearly.

b) Dues amount will be voted on by members in good standing and be decided by a majority vote.

c) Dues give each current member voting rights in the Club and voice in the Club's direction.

d) The positions of President and Vice President can only be held by primary members. (see 1b)

3. THE CLUB PATCH and COLORS

a) The Club patch design/logo belongs to Fire & Iron, M.C., Chapter 1, Central Florida Region.

b) All members are required to purchase at least one (1) Fire and Iron back patch and one (1) Station 857 rocker, and (1) one 857 club patch, that will be worn with honor and pride.

c) Reasons for a member to lose his or her patch and membership in club are: non-payment of dues, bringing shame and dishonor to club, actions of a member by which a 2/3rd's majority vote of the membership feels that are not in keeping with the Club's sprit or intent, a felony conviction.

d) Only members in good standing will be allowed to wear the Club patch. If for any reason a member should leave or be removed from the Club, that member will be required turn in their patch to the Club President of his or her respective chapter.

e) All members attending Station 857 meetings must wear the club colors, either the official patch and rocker or the official Fire and Iron shirts.

f) Official patch and rocker or official Fire and Iron shirts must be worn at all Fire and Iron’s events, ( i.e., parades, charity events, meetings, rides, other FI clubs events, etc).

g) NO support patches of any other motorcycle clubs are to be worn, or sewn on any Fire and Iron vests, tee shirts, or any other Fire and Iron apparel. Fire and Iron, is considered a neutral club and all members MUST adhere this rule, per the National President of Fire and Iron.

4. GENERAL INFORMATION

a) Meetings will be held quarterly, January-April-July-October, dates and time TBA.
1) General meeting is in January; rule changes, future plans and elections will take place during this meeting.
2) Special meetings can be called at the discretion of club officers.

b) Election of officers will be held annually at the General meeting in January. As of the year 2009, the terms will be for two (2) years for Sgt at Arms, Vice-President, and Road Captain.
Terms will be for (3) years for President, and Sec/Tres.

c) All members are required to attend Two (2) mandatory club rides per year. One of which will be sanctioned club ride. Station 857 will strive to have at least one (1) sanctioned club ride per month.

d) The following of safe riding practices are strongly encouraged. Members not adhering to the "accepted" rules-of-the-road will not be tolerated!

e) Personal conflicts or fighting within the "ranks" reflect poorly on the membership and will not be tolerated. Any disagreements will be brought before the membership for settlement.

f) Membership in other clubs, associations or groups is allowed i.e. HOG. or CMA.

g) Your rank or position within the Fire Department does not carry over into Club or hold sway over any Club activities.

h) Those people associated with the law enforcement community will not be allowed to join club unless they are a sponsored member as outlined in Section 1., paragraph e, h or i.

i) We have three unwritten rules;
1. Family First
2. Work Second
3. Club Third
* Fire and Iron Station 857 is not responsible for any damage or injuries sustained during ALL club rides, events, or functions.*
